CIVIL SOCIETY PROTECTION

About

Since its founding, JustPeace has stood in active solidarity with partners facing repression, providing direct support, particularly to Afghans, Sudanese, and other partners at risk. The Civil Society Protection Programme tackles one of the most urgent challenges confronting human rights defenders, activists, and community leaders: the immediate threats to their safety and freedom. JustPeace recognises that when civic actors are silenced, societies as a whole lose essential capacities for peace and justice.

The Civil Society Protection Programme aims to establish a network-based rapid-response mechanism to enable timely protection, relocation, or evacuation when risks escalate. In parallel, through the JustPeace Lab, the organisation is investing in the development of flexible, sustainable funding models to support effective crisis responses.

JustPeace is actively seeking funding to pilot and scale both these protection mechanisms and funding models, ensuring responsiveness without compromising partner autonomy or mission alignment.
